i suggest you grab a battery load tester and see how it does by itself hooked up to nothing... i mean if it hisses thats a pretty darn good tell tale sign to ditch the b!tch!

pretty much, mine was sitting around for like 6 months before i installed too, and i only paid $50 for it so i just chucked it as a lost

well if it was sitting for a while, and was down to 11 volts, It may just need to charge. Throw a 2 amp trickle on it overnight and see if it helps.
