I'm curious as well, but I don't feel like spending another $400 for a meter
Actually, I've been having some problems with my US alternator. It was charging at 13.7v, which I'd expect because It was using the stock plug and being powered by the ECU. I was getting quicker drop with that alternator than the stock one. It was drawing the other three down. It was causing an error with the PCM and I'd get "charging system failure" on the dash display.
So, I paid extra for a "PCM bypass module" that was supposed to make it charge at 14.7v. Well, they didn't send any directions, and the color wires the rep told me didn't match my truck. Hooked it up today and tried both wires. Now, the alt charges at 13.5 and will even kick off randomly. I am now getting a full volt more voltage drop since I installed the PCM bypass. I'm reconnecting the stock wires the next time I drive my truck. I'm pissed.
They want me to send the alt back and get a new regulator now. I can tell you I'm not paying return shipping to get this done. I paid $1,250 and it isn't even working as well as the stock alt. I am frustrated after a day of troubleshooting.
Thanks, what are you running now?
Any time you want to come to Iowa, lol
