XXX or type X

The plural on that 2500 is what started me. I thought you were running 2 2500D's to 2 12" Type R's. .....I was like....nught Uh.!
sure can!

One 2500d on one of my R's is great... sounds real good, only sees approx 1000-1500 watts though, at absolute full tilt.

WHich btw, I'd also like to add that you wont see nearly as much power on most music... unless your past the point of clipping.

Do you really need to hear a 150+ all day? I know I can't stand it... it gets old fast. Will the type R handle a 2000 watt burp for 24 hours? no... will dam near any woofer, no.
IF you want full tilt all day, sure, just drop the power down... but why bother when the sub CAN handle more for shorter periods... and its easier on everything if you have a 2000 watt amp putting out 800, as opposed to an 800 watt amp putting out 800.

If you daily drive with 2000 watts and you can even listen to it all day, your doing something wrong.
I wasn't speaking of listening to 150db's all day, I was speaking about using 2000 watts on a Type R 'daily'. I made that quite clear in my post.

You said 2000 is fine so long as you dont keep it up for extended periods of time. I said that does not fit my definition of 'daily'. To me, 'daily' means being able to use it for extended periods of time, if I so chose. (I did not say "all day", no need to exagerate) Daily to me does not mean I have to be concerned with how long Im flexing my system for fear of failure (within reason). Aparently yours and my definition of 'daily' is a bit different. *shrug* I see no point trying to convince each other whose definition is correct.

The R will take on 2000 watts for a song, that long enough?

WHat I was going at is that the R will do ALOT with that power... but it will only handle in a decent box. This is true for nearly ANY woofer, including the big ineffeciant power hogs.

Even a DD 9512 wont handle 2000 actual watts in a daily configuration for an "extended" period of time.

ok ok, so you just said yourself that they are only seeing like 1500 at full tilt man

1000 per woof when i wire to .5, i'd guess closer to 1200/1300 when i use one, but ive never tested, as i never use one.

If you want to talk a 2000 watt amp rated @ 1 ohm with a dual 2 type R... then yea it'll handle for an "extended period" properly setup.

As was said in here earlier, its hard to get 2000 actual watts!

Autotek mm4000 running at 2 ohm bridged... only 1600 ACTUAL watts!

Power handling on any and every speaker is time and enclosure dependant (and toss in that a squared signal will affect it). I have not suggested otherwise. Just trying to quantify some of the less.... quantified... statements being used around here (dont mean by you).

depends on the box when mark was doing the db drag here the same box same set up he did his 150 on he was demoing for a couple forum members was jamming away where you could feel it with alot of authority for at least 8-10 minutes never puked once

yep... its even better now... and if you can get to IN state finals - and MECA finals - its gonna be nasty, nasty style //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Actually guys, The new '05 Type R 12 will handle 2000 watts. When our alpine rep came by the store a couple months ago he told us that during testing they put the sub on their bench or whatever it would be and started it at 50 watts, and then upped the power 50 watts every 15 minutes. The Type R blew at 2,250 watts. He said that their test bench didn't even have enough power to blow up a Type X. Just thought I'd throw that out there....

that goes against my testing... and honestly sounds like alot of BS =)

The type X handles much less power than the type R for a burp, and only slightly more RMS... which is useless because the sub is so dang ineffeciant.

I don't see the woofer handling 2200 watts for 15 minutes, as those test parameters would suggest... I don't see very many woofers at all passing that test.
