It sounds to me like you are someone who's very able to learn and you have a problem with an amazing sub and are getting so many different opinions that your head is spinning and you don't quite know what to do. Let's back up a sec. Your sub is making god awful noises at relatively modest volumes. I would do several things. Check the gain on your amp and set it correctly. Check the voltage at the amp with the system running. Double check to make sure that your box is done correctly and not ported incorrectly. A bad box design could not only make a woofer not perform the way it's capable of but also can damage a woofer. Last but not least make sure all of your settings on your head unit are back to zero and nothing is boosted. Past that it sounds like you need to consult with the installer who put it in your car if it's any more difficult then that.

Ok this isn't a sub problem its a power problem. Somewhere down the line you're making the amp clip like hell.

What brand LOC are you using?

Where is the LOC wired into the stock system?

Some LOCs need to be grounded in order to work right, check your instructions.

So if i was you hook ur sub up in another friends car with their amp to try to decifer where the problem is coming from, if u have a home stereo hook it up to that to see if the noise persist. Then go from there
my niggha... it was inevitable

Welcome to the first 3 pages of the thread

It doesn't say "only", those are the lower limits. Its going to be stable at any resistance/load within reason above that.
This is the owner manual

ftp://anonymous:anonymous@208.187.38.55/Phoenix_Gold/Manuals/Amplifiers/Tantrum/ta1200.1manual.pdf
also the tantrum is regulated from 2-4ohms. (1400+ @2-4ohms). the other amps are 2 channel if you looked at them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif no 2 channel amp (that i kno of) is stable at 1 ohm or lower.

back on topic, you ever figure out your problem? post up your troubleshooting so far.

Still havent figured it out yet, I turned the crossover on the amp to about 80 and the configuration to LP(low pass) but it didnt stop the sound. I'm going to hook the sub up to my home stereo or my friends truck to see if its the sub or not. Well see. I'm going to go buy one of those voltage meters later.
