xxx not what I expected

would it be because I have the stock headunit?
hmm.

I still don't know. Do post pics of your set-up so we can see what the problem might be.

It did sound fine (and LOUD!) in my car. Did you ask the guy at the shop about that tiny hole in the surround? I really doubt that that would cause the sound to be so distorted, but if everything else is correct, I would just dab a bead of silicon on it and it would be fixed.

It should be working fine though. How do you have the voice coil wired? In parallel, correct?

hahaha seriously....people should start small... noobs shouldnt be handling hardcore crazy equipment
I don't mean to be a douche, because you do seem like a nice guy, but x2.

I'm just afraid you're going to blow the sub and then try to give it back to me.

I want to help you figure it out, but yeah, don't do anything stupid.

P.S. How much is the sub moving? As far as excursion?

hey kevo whats the deal is this your sub? he didnt pay you yet or what?? who loans people expensive subs haha i know i wouldnt
I sold it to him. I want to make sure he is happy with it, so if something is wrong with his install, I want to make sure we fix it so he doesn't have to ship it back and then we worry about refunds/who pays the return shipping.

I dunno:crap:

Some people have a higher "bass tollerance" sp?) if you will.2 12" PBX XS's ported and 1500 watts hurt several peoples ears, but not mine.

Your going deaf... But then again I must be aswell... The 15l7s dont seem loud anymore //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

hmm.....the little hole in the surround isnt really doing much, sub isnt really moving as much as I think it should. I just dont know why it would do this. Everything is hooked up right, 4ohm amp and wired sub to 4 ohm.

How much is a re-cone on a 12" xxx? Could that fix the problem?

All my friends are acting stupid, but I'm not listening them b/c they dont seem to know anything, they all this someone will blow up subs b/c of the size of a box.

you mean stock h/u as in, the actual unit that came with your car? if so, then you're probably getting a BIG signal loss between the deck and the high level inputs *which i assume you're running the amp on* on the amp. Break down exact specs of the setup from the start to finish.

ok heres the setup.

99 Mustang with mach 460

stock headunit

2.5^3 @ 32hz box

PG tantrum 1200/1 amp

12" re xxx

4g. power wire

line out converter from stock wires

bass on headunit is at like 4 out of 16 or so

Gain on amp is on 2 of 18 I think

I just cant turn the bass higher without this pop/thud/nasty sound.

2 steps to fix it IMO.

1) rip out shit stock deck and all mach 460 componets.

2) replace what you ripped out

i also ask who did the install/box for the sub? if you did it yourself you might have messed something up, if you paid a shop to do it, go there and make them fix it. that's what you paid for.
