Xcon or W7?

people tend to overhype the w7, but it is a quality sub. 10 year old technology that still gives some new subs a run for their money.

so much mis information, and wrongly guided opinions in this thread... mainly stemming from just a couple users

I agree, I am not saying that the Xcon is a bad sub or has poor soft parts as I have owned one, But when someone makes a comment that the Xcon has better soft parts then the W7 but yet has no way to back it up with solid concrete information other then some miss guided information or gets all butt hurt and cannot respond like an adult when called out on it.

The w7 and Xcon are both very nice drivers, Both are very different in design it is pretty hard to compair the two side by side. Both have good design but in my option the w7 has more technical research behind it being that the design has not changed all that much in 10 years or so.

The SSA Xcon is a fairly new subwoofer atleast to me it is, I joined this board back in 08 and ROE in 06 and I was introduced to some new product, SSA has put some time into their product I am not saying that they didn't. Xcon is a very nice and versital sub that can go both sealed and ported and preform rather well in both. The Xcon can take more power thermally then the w7.

Really cannot go wrong with either one.

Just because over 10 years there have been limited alterations to the W7 does not make it a better designed sub at all. I'm not saying it is worse then the SSA or any less of a sub just saying that is a faulty reasoning in which you site.

I think the W7 is a great sub if you buy it at a used price. (yes I have owned several)

W7's are awesome subs and i have owned every size. But the xcon will continue to get loud and sound clean well after the w7 has met its limits. I think that at 1000rms both subs in the right box will probably sound identical to the ear but at 1000rms the w7 is at peak power handling and the xcon still has another 750/1000rms that it can handle and do it while staying clean.

I can't believe no one has tried to compare the pups to the subs mentioned in here. Any sub with a skateboarding dog on it screams win.

Another question, what about the RE MX? I see it's power rating is 1500 RMS, how are they compare to xcon? Are they SQ subs?

RE's build quality has diminished over the last few years... so i would vote for the xcon over it

the w7 might sound a little better, but both are excellent woofers, regardless the brand name.

You are right the original version not the newer version the version after the Claw I might be having a pair for sale..looking to replace them with some Z v.2s from Sundown Audio

no I know where it's made, and how many oem problems the companies have had. I've seen magnet slugs break in half for no reason, tinsel leads frying at rms ect. ect. besides the ssa guys are jack ***'s
