I have an idea for either (x4) RL-p 15" or (x2) RE SX 15", depending on what subs i go with depends on what amps i buy. With the RL-p im going to buy a XX Hifonics Colossus, and if i do with RE SX then im going with w 12.1 re amps...

I drive a 96 ford explorer.

Your opinions guys....

Also im going to spend close to 2K for a system that REALLY bumps and has some power... Any other suggestions on setups with adire audio or alpine will work too.

my buddy had 4 lightning audio strike 15's in his walk through walled off S-10.......with only 1000watts to all of them, and did a 153.4.....he switched to L5's this year but hasnt put them in.....4 15" RL-p's will f'in pound.

Hrmm.. maybe I should reconsider the pair of Type R 12s I'm about to buy for a single RLp 12?........ hmm.
It couldnt keep up with the type rs... spl wise at least //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

4 15" rl-p's will be extremly if done right. i mean my 2 12" rl-p's were loud. i hope you know what you are getting into. i hope you realize the spl potential here and the electrical upgrades you'll have to make. also you have to make a good box so all this shit will sound good.

Enjoy going deaf by the age of 30. Just so you know, long term (2-3 months) hearing damage is permanent.
Just so you know, any hearing damage can be permanent. It can happen over a period of years, or in a matter of seconds. I have no idea where you got your 2-3 month figure.

i have a 96 explorer.. was curious how you plan to fit 4 15" rlps in your cargo area.... ported? cause i think 10 cubes is definately the limit before port area. i think 2 15" SX 15s would definately be enough bass in bix ported boxes on over 1krms a pop. i cant see havin enough space for 4 15s ported properly.

also do you have a high output alternator? if not i dont think you can run a colossus. if so where did you get it and how many amps does it put out?

i say the 2 15s done right will be plenty because ive been running a comp VR 15 sealed for the past few months and my friends say my car can be heard well before they see me. SX 15s would be enough to give your ears more than some good ringing. you would have twice the cone area over quadrouple the power and then itd be ported.. i think if you had the rlp 15s it would be almost a waste cause you would probably get cancellation and i dont think youd be able to deal with that much bass for extended periods of time.

the SXs will be cheaper, use less power, use a smaller box, and still get loud enough to make a hell of a point IMO

it will be hard to have them below the window line, but if that is not an issue then you have more room to work with,

I have put more than my fair share of different boxes in my explorer

the 4 12" RL-p install might be the best way IMO
