WTF? - Wiring Problems: Please help

Few weeks back I upgraded my sounds, called for a wiring upgrade. from 8awg to 4awg. Ever since I've had an alternator whine + static, just enough to bug the **** outta me.

I tried everything I could think of to fix it so eventually I say "**** it." I removed the entire system from the car, hooked everything up directly to the + and - of the battery. Still whining / Static.

This pretty much narrows it down to the amp (rf 600.4) or the hu (Kenwood MP5). Is it possible that one of these components are messed up and is causing the whine? If so how can I determine which one.

Thanks in advance!

Most times it is from the HU in the form of a ground loop. Power/ground your HU off the exact same point as the amp and it should rid you of this noise. This means do not use the factory harness for power/ground.

A quick check is to unplug the RCA's at the HU. If the noise is gone, plug back in and unplug at the amp. This will verify its not the RCA's and that the HU is the source and it is just passing down the chain
