WTF Squealing noise through subs?!

So heres the problem : I had an MA audio m1900 running two mtx 7500s, and i messed around one day and grounded an allen wrench to the amp chassis/speaker terminal trying to connect subs not realizing the acc was still on. I guess this shorted out something in the amp and made a squealing/buzzing noise through the subs when the cars running. I removed the amp and subs, sold the subs, sold the HU, and sent the amp back for repair. Now a month later i have a new HU, new subs, and a diff (used) amp im using till i get mine back in the mail. I just went out and bought a new set of rockford RCAs to replace my metra rcas which i thought could have something to do with it, no effect. WTF is going on here? Im thinking its the used amp has the same problem as the amp i pulled? What else could it be //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

Clifs - Messed up previous amp, put in diff one, same alternator whine issue as old one which i messed up, but didnt do the same to this one.

The only way I've found to avoid all of that mess with Rca's and Pioneer h/u's is you have to unhook every single power cord on your amp and headunit before you start unhooking/ hooking up the rca's. The fuse in the Pioneer's rca's output end up blowing because of it.

i unhooked the power from the batt before i hooked up the RCAs.

Also id like to add, the amp has a VERY loud turn on thump. And when you turn it off it makes a squeaky sound, like a dj scratching a record //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

You could try grounding the rca jacks to the amp and the rca jacks on the hu to the hu.

Worked for me, had a similar problem along with the norm engine noise.

I thought about that. Im just gonna pull the amp and get my money back from the dude that sold it to me. Mine should be here any day now so its worth the wait not to mess anything up. Could the whine noise damage my subs? The sound coming out of them sounds reallllll nasty.

Also id like to add again, when the subs are playing a constant note the amp skips (clipping?) ive never had that happen before, that happens when the gains too high or hu is too high right? Hu was on half and gain is around half too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Im thinking this amp is just royally ****ed.

The noise can... may not hurt your subs.

I would ground the rca;s on the hu anyways. Good cheep way to fix engine noise.

The skipping isn't clipping. It sounds like either your amp is going in and out of protect or there is a ground issue (maybe paint under the ground and with the vibrations it touches at times and doesn't corrctly at other times, or is moving.)

But your amp might just be retarded. :]

hmm actually.

With one install, the systems power wire wasn't direct from the alt/bat yet through some kind of useless distributor. It Only allowed 10v through and when a note would play the voltage would droped a tad and the amp would shut off at 8.5v. Could be somewhat a problem. Or your alt is bad and pushes only maybe 50amps like my first one was ;]

IDK man, could be a lot of random things.

my ground is good. I havent changed anything since my last setup.

Im almost 100% sure its the amp. Heres why

Last setup played awesome

One day i fried something in the amp

amp started doing the same thing this one is.

I may ground the rcas though just incase, do i just need to ground the rcas to the back of the HU?

yeah just take copper speaker wire and wrap it around the rca holdjacks that stick out, (make sure you do each red/white set of jacks separate and to opposite sides.) and then to each side of your pioneer there should be a screw. Wrap it around that.

Remember separate definitely works better.
