Wtf? Need help asap.

Just got my 9855, and the wiring harness refuses to go into the unit. They look exactly the same size, like it should fit like a charm, but it refuses to go in.

Yeah I did, everything looks A-OK. It goes in about 1/4 the way, and just stops. I've tried using excessive force, and that didn't do a thing.

take a picture of the harness and the back of the HU, maybe we can see something you missed. If it goes in part way, it should go in the rest of the way. did you try wiggling th molex plug end to end as you plugged it in?

You could try heading to your nearest Best Buy or Circuit City and ask them if they could replace it for you if you suspect the connector is at fault. I've done it multiple times and they always do it for free. Other shops usually charge about $5 for it though. I would try those options before forcing anything; you don't want to bend/break the pins on the headunit.

hmmm, don't know what to tell you then. make sure the plug is right side up, etc. a lot of them have these little "guide nibs" that fit into little slots on the head unit socket, make sure those are lining up. double check all the pins and then maybe sand down the outside of the plug to see if it will work?

As you can see, it will only go in one way. The radio is used, I bought it off Baseballer1100 and just got it in the mail yesterday...

I would try switching the harness before trying to wire your own.

I'll take a trip up to Best Buy, they sell Alpine radios. I just wanted to get this sh!t done before it gets dark, but it looks like I'll be installing it in my garage later tonight if Best Buy sells me a replacement harness.

Are you sure they would only charge $5? I remember a few years ago I damaged the harness for my Pioneer radio and Circuit City wanted to charge me $25.
