Those large companies design the woofers in a way that will best sell to their target market. You really think their engineers want to make the speakers look like that? Theyre doing it because it sells.....which should be obvious to you.

So, if they did change the aesthetics of their drivers to something more pleasing to you, are you actually saying that this is what it would take to get you to stop buying focal and mcintosh and make the move to pioneer and kicker?

You should respect Kicker. The owner is one of only a very few that has not sold out. I read in an article better than ten years ago Steve Irby vowed to take Kicker to his grave. For that alone I'll respect him, but **** those are some ugly speakers. At least "Everyone" is doing it so they are not ugly all by themselves.

There's easily as much, or more, equipment out there without lots of "flair." I personally like that style, so I use it.
Mainstream companies design them this way to appeal to a younger market. They make money doing this. Introducing a sub as a "classic" and making it look plain, when they have lots of modern-looking subs, would be a retarded business strategy.

Of course it is, that's not the issue at hand. This is all big box brands so they are in every Sears, Best Buy, Walmart, Cosco, WTf ever it is at store. No matter where you go you have to look at this crap.
