Wtf anything we can do?

yea i dont see them bringing in the police when he said we have to pay it for all the time to process all the paperwork and such all i heard was a free way for us to make money

No matter the situation though. YOU should NOT pay anything. Let her accept her own responsibility. They arent going to throw her in jail for shoplifting lipgloss. It'll be healthy for her to have to suffer the consequences of her actions.

and to think, i used to steal cd players from target when i was younger. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

lipglos is just stupid. bums are what they are if they can't afford that

they cannot get the cops involved. it would be a civil suit. been through this. they count on dumb people just paying them.
I don't know what retail theft laws are like in your area, but in mine they sure as hell can.

If she couldn't afford lipgloss, she can't afford 375 dollars. I'll tell you the truth, they can't get 375 dollars from you or her. I don't care if she signed a contract saying that she would pay them that for the next 10 years, she is underage, and therefore can not be held responsible for her actions without a conscenting adult present to witness and sign. They might as well have asked her to get them a unicorn or else she is going to get the electric chair. It really doesn't matter.

But still, lipgloss? What is this world coming to that people steal lipgloss (6 dollars)?

If she is underage she is going to be fine. I did a large spree of stealing from sears when I worked there in my youth and got caught stealing 3 camcorders. The total was over 3,000 dollars and it is considered a felony. BUT I was underage. So I got 3 months house arrest (taken down to 2) a 6 month probation and a 117 dollar fine.

Good point. Is she a minor? If so did a legal guardian sign the papers or no?
minor or not, they would have to take her to civil court to get that money. she should already be paying a fine through the court system. that's called double jeapordy to try and collect a 2nd fine. the only way she would have to pay on a civil suit is if she did actual damage on top of the shoplifting. i called king soopers attorney's over my gf's little brother being in almost the exact same situation. i told them to f off, **** my junk and many other expletives and never got another letter. they got the property back and they're isn't any damages to collect, therefore not worth going to court.
