Wrecked the ranger and bought a regular cab 1996 Chevy 1500. I have searched the forum and couldn't find any 2 12" ported sub setups in a single cab. Does anyone have any plans handy? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Power that i am working with is about 2000wrms. Getting ready to do the big three with 0 guage wire. Line driver is on the way. The only thing holding me back is box plans...i'll draw up some plans after finals and see what is up i just need a general idea at what i am looking at if you fellas would be willing to help me out!

So if you have box plans or regular cab setup stories, let me know!

not too familiar with how much space you are working with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif only thing i know are nissan, dodge, and toyota standard cabs personally //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Got any dimensions to get us started with. I got a Ford crew cab which doesn't have much room behind the back seat depth wise but I can get about 60" accross.

Thinking to start off you could do something like 60"Wide x 20" High x 8" bottom x 4" top

I know there are some loud chevy regular cab guys one here maybe they can chime in with something

Thinking aero ports would be a must on this to take up the least amount of volume in the box

EDIT: That box would be 2.81 ft^3 so would probably need to go bigger to get 2 12's ported

Any idea on what subs you wanna run?

You listed exact dimensions! I could scoot the seat up and add about two more inches to the depth...but i am 6'5" tall... no idea on what subs i am wanting to run. I have been reading up on the mag remakes and with 5.5" mouting depth it would be an ease fitting them in there! I was going to choose subs until i had maxed out volume for the box and then chose subs accordingly and lastly tuning the box.

Yes i have heard of numerous single cab setups. Hopefully they will chime in on some plans! Thank you for your help! It goes appreciated!

It can be hard to get both a big box and some legroom in a regular cab. I just took those dimensions and by stretching out the bottom 1 more inch it jumps up to 3.12 ft^3 if you bump out the top as well by 1 inch it jumps up again to 3.44 ft^3

Only other problem I would see would be mounting depth. With the first box even running 10's there seems to be only 6" mounting depth and should have at least an inch or 2 behind the sub for the pole vent. Stretching it out by an inch on top and bottom gives almost 6-3/4" mounting depth for a 12" and you could drop some aero ports in on the sides (I think thats the loudest in regular cabs) or just drop em in from the top.

If your really dedicated and don't wanna give up the leg room you could look into doing a fiberglass back and bottom for the box to try and really maximize the area.

Dude you are in luck. I have been working on a couple of different box plans for a chevy. If you want a ported box a single twelve is probably your best option. You only have around 3' to work with. Once you take out port and speaker displacement you have about 2.5'. As was stated you can glass the rear wall to save a little space.

Here is a sketchup of a first draft I came up with for a Kicker L5 12". It is drawn to use glass on the rear wall. I am working on a couple of others to figure out which actually gives more leg room. I may have time to finish another one tonight. I'll post it too if you would like.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif you will have no room for 2 12" subs ported in that truck. Hell, fitting 1 12" ported sucks for leg room.

Run them sealed in 2 cubes and it will still sound great.

My single 12" sub sealed is loud and capable of shaking my entire truck. Ask anyone who has seen/heard it.

3 DD 1508's, 1 6" aero to the passenger side and 2.5cu.ft?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

for 2 12's sealed. Even though, you can do 4 10's sealed not too hard, not a very effiecient route. Honestly, anything over 1 12 is loud in a single cab lol:p:

How about dropping down to 2 tens ported, could probably get away with that pretty easily without sacraficing leg room. Still mounting depth will be an issue but volume won't be as bad.

Alrighty let me throw and idea out there and you guys can either shoot it down or support it!

Ok have thought about jdc753's advice and considering 2 10's ported. I just got done doing measurements in my truck and can pull 3.2 cubic feet internal volume. Yes mounting depth is a serious issue therefore i have scooted my seat forward to achieve 10" of depth behind it. I would then be able to mount two 10's in downfire position with aero ports from the top. I have been looking at JBL Gti 10's but i don't know if they would fit due to magnet diameter. I will be doing a sketchup of my idea here afterwhile.

Thank you for the L5 box design! I will take that into consideration if this doesn't work out for me!

Behind the seat of that chevy should be almost exactly like a 94-01 dodge, I did a direct swap with a box for a single 15 and it fit exactly the same.

Hey man, here's a couple more sketchup shots. This one is 3.25^3. I think it will give more leg room than my first draft. This one is about 10" inches at the bottom. Both of these stay below the trim piece below the back glass. Going up in front of that, like you have your Sketch, will cost you lots of room quick as far as the seat going back.
