Wow, just heard lightning audio

My friend who doesn't know a heck of a lot about audio picked up 2 10" Lightning Audio woofers from walmart today. We spent the 10 minutes required to pack them into the prefab box and all I can say is wow! They weren't at all musical (no real dynamic response) and the SPL was quite lacking. I went to my moms stock car and her 6x9 stock backs honestly sounded as good or better with only a moderate volume difference. Despite the large difference in power and cone area. I say moderate because he was running the ****ing things into a very high THD, they sounded like ***, but I turned it down just to check the "useable" volume. They were being powered by a Pioneer amp, not sure exact model, but it said "MAX POWER 300 watts, so I'd say closer to 125 rms. Just thought I'd post my first experience with super cheap stuff.

yes they trample all over the little guy and close small mom and pop businesses with thier low prices.

they can get a job their and bag up my goods and return me the addition change I recieve back from the savings. Computers and the web shut down more car audio shops, car audio brands and performance car shops than walmart ever could by doing the exact same thing, offering lower prices. But I guess your gonna put that computer down now so you cant respond.

only because wal mart doesnt carry much car audio.

got statistics to back that up?

got statistics to back that up?
nope. you didn't show me any statistics to make your claim either but it wont take but a google search to show how e-sales have affected retailers in the car aftermarket (car audio or otherwise). Either way statistic will only show a correlation between two things happening, they dont show proof one CAUSED the other.

How many more jobs does walmart offer to a community compared to a independant mommy and daddy owned shop? How much money does a walmart save its customers shopping in the community compared to the independent shop? Do you really need statistics to show the obvious? I've been into car audio and car modifications (since 89') long enough to use my common sense which tells me if local product cost 50-100% more than same product online a significant amount of people are going to chose online. So a few local stores go out of business. A few detroit factory workers lost their jobs to cheap mexican labor so chevy could make an attempt to compete with toyota. A few thousand MCI employee's lost their job so MCI could compete with bell atlantic. Shit happens and the survivors still manage to survive.

i would almost bet the woofers are out of phase..not saying they are great but they should own factory 6x9's
I agree 100%

I had radio shack 8" p.o.s. woofers that owned my stock 6x9's in a 2000 mustang, and those 6x9's arent even that bad.

check to see if they're out of phase.
