WOW!!! JBL W10gti subs

I read on diyma that the 10's are a cut above the 12's and 15's, they ran a bunch of test that I know nothing about and came up with really good numbers for the tens.
The thing with the differential drive motor that JBL uses, is it's more geared towards thermal efficiency, than BL linearity.

The giant motor acts as a heatsink more than anything, the BL curve looks like that of an underhung design.

Also, the separate coils also act like brakes, they are wired out of phase from each other, so when the bottom coil moves into the top gap, it stops and gets forced the other direction, and visa versa.

I've never heard one unfortunately, but a lot of people praise them for their superb sound quality.

Oh, and yea that install is in a Passat.

with the DD drive at low power each coil stays in it's own

magnetic gap

as the power increases one coil moves right out of it's gap

while the other coil holds with it's gap

with extreame power the coils enter each others gap

producing magnetic braking....

you can hear when the magnetic braking starts working..the

subs hit extreamly hard..almost like a sludge hammer

for example listening to Motley Crue the double drumming

is reduculus...I demo "Same Old Situation" and leave everyone

in awww...there is also a brown note in there when Nicky Sixx

pulls a bass guitar string really hard and snapps it...it comes up

and grabs you by the but hole..leaves most people feeling violated:D

thats a real clean looking install in that trunk. real nice.
i thought it was pretty decent

that's a decent looking install....

is that a track to slide the bottom BPX in and out with????

I'll be mounting my amps inverted on the ceiling above

the rear seat when I get some spare time and there are

a few cosmetic improvements to be added

it's fun installing this shit....keeps me out of trouble:D

I know nothing about that install, but yes clearly those are tracks for sliding the amps in and out with. If you look you can see they are actually slid out, in a position that would otherwise making folding the back seat up impossible.
I think I would have tried hiding those tracks. Beautiful install, just sayin...

Oh and if you are planning on running your amps inverted, keep in mind that generally hurts their ability to cool properly. Depending on whichs amps you are using, that may or may not be an issue. If its not a fan cooled amp, dont even think about it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I heard these on the same night as i heard a few IDMAX subs. I was blown away by the IDMAX's but when I played with the GTi's I was completely f'n shocked. tightest sounding sub I have had the chance to hear.
