What were the specs on the boxes you tried and how much power?Ive actually done this swap. And I tried two different boxes. Sealed the Alpine strait up had more output and sounded better. Ported the RE walked all over the Alpine in output and sound quality.
Good point.. Sealed was 1 cubic ft. The RE just had very little output in this box compared to the Alpine. The Alpine has a better sound with much more punch. This was all done on an ARC audio 600W amp. The Ported box was a prefab ProBox. No idea what the specs were so this could have been hurting the Alpine but the RE SE got loud and low in this thing. The kind of bass that makes the wax in your ears move and your eyes jiggle. The Alpine didn't even come close in that box. I guess not the fairest comparison but its all we had to work with at the time. What were the specs on the boxes you tried and how much power?
Most of almost all subs are not made in the U.S.F.U.C.K. u !!!!!! RE is still d BEST !!!!! atleast their older stuff .... not know >>> cheap CHINA bastards !!!!!!!!
I beg to differ... it sounded great sealed. Better then the RE. According to the manual I had the sub was in the recommended sealed enclosure.Type R's should NOT be sealed.
