ok im building my 1st system and im wondering if i would need a new battery and alternator

im probably going to get a 900 watt kenwood amp and 2 12 in IA 187s my alt is a 80 amp alt im not sure exactly what my battery s but i know its descent

You shouldn't, I run about 2 k in both my rides and I never have any proplems. but I did buy better than normal battiers, die hard platinum's and run 0 ga wire.

Subwoofers do NOT make a system! What you got there is 900 watts of bass and what for the rest of the sound spectrum? Congratulations, you just put 100% of your efforts into the sound spectrum that reproduces 20% (or less) of most music. Good job!

why would i care how much the speakers take if they arent on an amp? they are hooked up to my head unit

Did you give up on the 300 watt plan?Did not find another 12"? It will not really matter either way...Your system will change at least 6 or 7 times before you are happy with it.I think everybody has done it.
