worst car system ever..................

So , i went out to play around and try to tune this monstrosity in a little better. So i correctly set the gains on the preamp , kept the volume on the deck at 22 of 30. Settings flat on deck , loud off. Gains on the old sony are all the way down , didn't bother using a dmm because its loud enough with them all the way down. LOL. But for some reason when i put the cd on pause and crank the preamp past 3/4 , i get a disgusting squeal. After an hour of trying to track down the source of this noise , i remembered................ITS A PIONEER DECK!! ******* RCA's needed to be grounded. The ***** actually doesnt sound half bad except for the hollow bottom end because of the crap box. The higher bass gets down pretty nice. But next week sometime i'm taking that **** box out and running a single JBL GT1000 10" in 1.5@32hz. Should be nice. Once i get some 4 gauge for the amp and some better speakers for the door i will fix all the wiring. also gotta lose that pioneer for a alpine or kenwood budget deck. But after isolating that ground noise it sounds pretty good now.

I didnt feel like hiding anything because its coming out in a month. The only thing staying is the preamp. All speakers are being replaced ' date=' and my sony amp is going in my car. this is just a temporary car while i get a new motor for my buick.[/quote']
LMAO!!!!
that guy actually made my ''door jam install'' look professional..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/santa.gif.e1ec9cf2e0a0dd232ad35aa594a126d0.gif

Lulz.

So you mean to tell me you would "properly" run 18 gauge speaker wire under carpet and through the door boots , when you plan on putting 14 gauge in within a month or so , and drill firewall hole and use a 8 gauge grommet when you plan on upgrading to 4 gauge in a month or so , and build a quality box for subs that are being replaced in a week , hide cheap RCA's under the carpet when you plan on getting quality rcas within a month or so? Why would i do all that work just to do it again in a month? I just needed to make noise and i was bored ,so i went out and made some noise. LOL.

No Im saying I would buy the proper wire, speakers, build the box, etc right the first time so I didnt have to deal with it again. It saves time doing it right the first time then it does to do it wrong and fix it.

But i wanted to do it. I don't have money right now for this stuff , i just wanted to turn my radio on NOW and not cringe at the slightest amount of volume as i did with the door speakers on the deck. i had some crap laying around and made use of it. It beats listening to the **** that was in the car to begin with.

and i'm not fixing anything , i'm replacing everything. except the preamp

your upgrading everything then ?
except the amp and preamp. i decided to keep the 5540F (built in crossovers) in this car and use the 5540 (no crossovers) in the buick because the deck in the buick is 3 way active. This car will get a new entry level deck , a pair of 5.25" vifa/audax 2 ways from parts express , and a JBL GT1000 10" is in the mail now. All the wiring is getting changed out , and i'm gonna do a box in the spare tire area in the trunk.
