OK so i just got all of this stuff installed to run my system and it sounds pretty **** loud i got both L7's in a custom built flared port TCAB box by mark potts tuned to about 33hz...except for one thing...sometimes when it started to get super loud the subwoofers cut out but they rarely do that unless the two kinetiks are not fully charged...someone suggested a high output alternator? which costs probably 500ish$ which im not willing to dish out at the moment....any suggestions/tips?...also the shop that wired my system wired it so that there is a dial knob connected to the subwoofer RCA's that i can turn up or down depending on how i want my bass to sound, its more of a gain knob than a bass boost knob because with gains all the way up and the knob down i barely get any subwoofer output...i have never seen this done before..anyone know about this? thanks in advance

the knob looks like a bass knob but the installer said it is not a bass boost its basically a gain...i dont get how you can wire a gain knob through the subwoofer RCA'a...if anyone knows that wouldbe great also what should my gain on my amp be and also any subwoofer level on the head unit at all? thanks guys

anyone?

It's probably just a tap or signal level control.

The cutting out may be your amp going into protect briefly because of low voltage. Have you measured your voltage drop on your amp pushing hard?

are the subwoofers dual 2 ohm. I think you may have the amp wired to 1 ohm(depending on what subs you have, dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm) or ike mentioned before you may be putting the amp in protect cause of low voltage. The bass knob is a remote gain, it has noting to do with the rca's, its connected through a phone wire to the amp. What i did was unplug the bass knob, set my gains properly and then plugged the bass knob bask in, it good cause you can adjust how much bass you want from up front. Some people like it some don't.

yes th subs are dual 2 ohm and no its not the bass knob, the subwoofer rca's behind th ehead unit connect into an input for the knob and you can adjust it like that..i have never seen that done on an install before or why they would do that

is it a epicentre of pg bass cube. What bass knob is it plugged into cause its not part of the amp.
no its not part of the amp at all...the subwoofer rca's from the back of the head unit connect to the amp...but the subwoofer rca's in the back of the head unit also connect to female rca's which connect to the knob...so the knob is used to control the rca levels....kind of weird...idk if anyone knows?

is this a brand new amp? if so wheres the bass knob that came with it. IF it is new they shouldn't have charged you to install that one. I never used one of those, i only use the one that comes with the amp. My guess is that it raises and lowers the voltage going to the amp, so all you do is turn it up or down depending on how much bass you want. If you turn it up full it basically just matches where the gain is set on the amp so it doesn't cause any harm or clipping unless the amp gain isn't set correctly.
