Working on a 1995 Cavalier... 4x6's or something else?

This is my Daughter's car and I am trying to piece together a system over time for her. I will probably eventually get a 5 channel amp to drive her 6x9's in the rear, sub and what ever we decide to go with in the doors. In my S-10 I bought some plate setups to go in the 4x6 slots and they sounded pretty good. Since this area is more for mids though can it be adapted for something better? Possibly a component set or does anyone make a good 4x6?

I have a 01 alero with the 4x6 thing goin on in the front doors, I tried to go that route with a pair of Boston's but was seriously left wanting more, with some spacers 5.25 comps fit easy, now moved up to 6.5's with very minimal cutting of the metal, my problem know is the cheap GM plastic of the doorpanels, they're deadened and foamed and they still rattle.

anyway you should be able to get 5's in there anyway

Will 4x6's give more mid-bass than those?

personally i think you'll get more midbass out of a 5.25 than a 4x6, unless you can find a beefy one that i haven't seen

Is it easy to fit a 5.25 in there without doing cutting? Any suggestion?

What is your expected install date? Do you have those in-hand? If you do what mods will have to be made to fit the 6.5's? In looking at them they will have to space the 6.5 out to allow it to mount or you will need to make the 4" side hole bigger. 6.5's would be killer. Thanks for that!

BTW... What 6.5's are you going with and are you doing a tweeter pod? I was trying to stay away from a component set for her car since I don't want to have $1,000 or more in her setup when done. $500 total for all four speakers and amp. I will probably just give her my Pioneer 77 HU but that's it!
