Working at a bar......

Why would A&B charges be filed? Most bouncers should never do more than restrain someone, and put their *** on the curb. If he got physical and unprofessional with it, then yeah. But a normal bouncer doing his job is in no threat.

i work in bars as side jobs for money. i bartend.

im learning flair..but can only do the basics so far..dont wanna get too crazy with it. i make anywhere from $180-$450 on an awesome night..topping $600-$700/night when theres events going on (ie: bikeweek, spring break, business conventions..etc)

when i was a barback i made $50/night plus 20% bartender tips. usually was like an extra $20-$60 depending on the night of the week. and from what ive hear from guys working as barbacks elsewhere..$50/night base was good.

to my knowledge, bouncers get paid x amount an hour..x% of the bartenders tips, x%waitress/stripper tips..and bonuses based on how rough the night was, how many people they had to handle and how professional they were.

it all depends on where you work.

EDIT: never get many threats against the bouncers. people talk crap to them all the time, saying "if you do anything to me ill wait by your car after work" acting all hard..but when you get taken out/ejected by them..you usually realize you were doin somethin you werent supposed to..or too drunk to remember to come back at closing time. blacks pull the race card all the times..and mexicans pull the minority card alot. drunk black women are the worst from what ive seen.

Ok...Tonight I got offered a job @ a bar...One of my friends works security there, and he told me they need someone else...He told me they make $35 an hour, which sounds unreal to me? I don't see how they pay that much, but thats what he said....I am 19, and could use the extra cash.......Hours would be from like 9-1:00 A.M. .....Think it would be a decent job?
you gotta be 21 to bartend (in this state) but my ex-gf's bro often pulled 500 bucks a night

(at club kryptonite) lolz

Most of the time the individual goes after the bar, not the bouncer if they want to file charges. However make sure you have in writing that the bar will pay your legal fees just incase you are charged with something as an idividual.

If it is more than just escorting a patron out and any physical altercation happens the cops should be called to cover your ***, but usually just the mention of cops sends the idiots running. I have never been charged personally, but the bar I work for has numerous assault charges against them and I was called as a defendant/witness a few times. The bar wins everytime, it is hard to defend your actions when you were drunk at the time.

I have never seriously hurt anyone on the job, but I did break a guys nose when he "accidently" slammed into the door frame while I was escorting him out the door. I am not a big fan of tough guys who harrass or beat women and he was really disrespectful to a few of our women bartenders. It takes a lot to get them pissed and they take a lot of abuse for the cash they get, but even they asked us to throw him out.

Recently a kid was celebrating his 21st and got a bit too drunk so we kicked him out. He came back and kicked the door, spiderwebbing the glass and ran. I chased him down and tackled him, we called the cops and he was arrested for drunk/disorderly. He ended up paying more than $2000 after fines and the cost to fix the door. Nice way to remember your very expensive 21st:)
