Woofer Mounting Question

I'm looking into picking up a pair of HAT L8v2's for my doors. However, the current woofers are only 6.5's and fitting the 8's is going to require some custom fab. My question is whether or not it's better to cut the door panels and mount the speakers directly to the door or is it better to mount them to the door panel?

im prepping my truck doors for 2 8" in each door.

im going to mount them to the door and not the panel. as you have to seal and deaden your doors for 8" 's .

the only why i would put them on the panels is you would have to seal you panels to your door and put a 3/8 - 1/2" plywood on the inside of the panel to support the speakers.

but for for me, they will sound better and be better supported on the doors.

SQ guys will say mount it to the door. I've done it both ways and never noticed a difference, but the set ups I do are geared towards getting loud and just need to keep up with a lot of bass...
