thats possible... broken lead that is. perhaps getting a $20 battery load tester to start, if your 8 yr old batt is still decent then keep it and look to other issues but if you are in CT then like me you have to start that rig up in cold temps so I'd personally get a load tester AND a new battery :-D

not sure if it makes a difference but my alt is rated at 200 amps over the factory 70amp alt. at one point i had a duel optima red top setup with a 250 AMP Waterproof / Sealed Dual Battery Control System(Painless Wiring 40103 - Painless Performance 250 AMP Waterproof / Sealed Dual Battery Control System - Quadratec) for the plow i had, i sold everything including the two batteries and the 250 amp setup.
