Wiring with a dual 2 ohm.

Now, I know that 2 dual 2 ohm subwoofers can be wired down to either 8, 2, or .5ohms. Long story short, my subs turned out to be dual 2 ohms rather than 4. My installer said it was possible to get to one ohm with the wiring and he went ahead and wired each sub into seperate box terminals at 1 ohm, then went ahead and put each pair of speaker terminals into the monoblock amp, it goes (+ - + -). So my question is what impedance is my amplifier seeing from the subwoofers? Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm guessing .5 ohms. If so I gotta watch out for my amp and then stop going to this installer.

That amp having two sets of terminals is not indicative of it being a 2 channel unit. Those contacts are bridged internally. The second set of terminals is simply for convenience sake for ease of wiring multiple subs to the amp.

Your installer is an idiot, /story.

Two DVC 2 Ohm drivers can not be wired a a 1 Ohm load. Like you already stated they can be wired to 8 Ohms, 2 Ohms, or 1/2 Ohm and that is it.

Don't use that installer anymore as he is more than a bit foolish.

i know its not a 2 channel unit, i'm just not sure what the terminals are wired to, i know my installer is an idiot. i was just trying to find out what ohm my amp is actually seeing so i can either disconnect it or change it. question wasn't answered. he wired each sub to 1 ohm, then connect both sets to the terminals. any idea what the amp is seeing? .5 ohms or 2?

how do you post a topic I have a kind of stupid question I dont really know anything about car audio and i was wondering can a one channel kicker 05KX2500.1 amplifier be hooked up to two subs or can it only be hooked up to one

it probably can be hooked up to two like mine, however the terminals are internally bridged. anyone know the answer to mine?

yeah its hard to tell cause he used all 4 output terminals on the amp. each pair having a one ohm load. so its gotta be either 2 ohms or .5 ohms.

ok sorry it was hard for me cause they ended up with two terminals, i didnt know. thanks for your help. now i gotta get some dual 4 ohms, maybe i'll buy your rl-ps since i got a 1500.1 coming in.

the terminals are bridged internally so it'll see whatever final load you give it.

and i only have 1 rl-p left. someone bought the other one yesterday. tho i do have a 13w7 for sale...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif
