Wiring up 6 speakers?

I have a 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis and it has a factory amp and factory deck. I need to bypass the factory amp to add another cd player and speakers....except i have 6 speakers instead of 4. How would I go about this? Thanks

You could get a 6channel amp, A/D/S made one that is cheap on eBay, or you could ditch 2 of them.... whichever way you feel necessary.

i can use a 4 channel (prob for the front 2 pairs) and then a 2 channel for the rears?

a 4 ch would work fine, too. 2 pairs of spkrs on one pair of channels, and the other two on the 2nd pair.

Metra makes a wiring harness that will bypass the "Premium Sound" factory amp. The speakers will then run off the new CD player.

You have a factory amp, but the factory amp has only four channels of output. The front door and dash speakers are wired in parallel. Test the resistance of the front channel outputs at the factory amp; if it's above 3 ohms or so, go ahead and run it all with the new head unit.
