Wiring problem, head unit not working

Ok, so I was cleaning up the wiring in my truck ('01 Ford F-250, 7.3L) for the radio, etc, and something wierd is happening. I have a deck, XM controller, and Kenwood music keg controller in my dash. Both the XM and music keg controller have only 3 wires, power, memory, ground. Everything was installed and working fine before, and now none of it is. The strange thing is I didn't do much. I pulled out the wiring and ran it all neatly, and ran the ground back to where my amps are grounded, as I had a slight noise issue. The power and memory wires are coming directly off the factory harness, where they were before. However, when the radio is plugged in and you mess with the wiring, the key-in-the-ignition dinger starts dinging, even though there is no key in it? Also, none of the units will power up, but there is 12 volts to the power wire, as I checked it with a DMM? I assumed it was a problem with the new ground, so I connected it to a ground on the dash, and still nothing? Is there something I am overlooking, it seems as simply as power, memory, ground, and the power and ground are fine?
