wiring issue

my mom bought the h/u at a car audio place, they installed it, and it has a aftermarket wiring harness connected to the stock wiring harness. the aftermarket wires are labeled as to what they do. the constant 12v and switched 12v run with 2 other wires into my dash in the direction of iether the ignition or the cig lighter.

yeah, be careful thats an expensive piece of equipment, does it look like there is one of these?

if so the brain could be bad and not giving you the signal, than it needs replaced or wired around.

or one of these with 2 other wires?

if so, i usually run underneath the drivers dash to some point, ie. column wires or something similar with a inline fuse, try to see if the fuse exist and if so replace it/check it.

im leaving the shop in a few ill answer when i get back on at home if i have any luck. also

the 2nd link is the aftermarket harness i have now. im gonna check the fuses later, i pulled a few out to check visually, and all of them have heat discoloration on the connectors, but they arent melted or anything. if it would help alot better i can take pics when my stepdads done cutting the grass. thanks cougar, i appreciate it!

i checked every fuse in the box under the hood and every one in the panel in the dash. the dmm beeped on every single one, so every fuse is ok. so what the hell could the problem be? i think the short was quick enough to just seperate the wire inside the sleeve, and not reach a fuse.... idk someone please help

ok i see what they did.. they probubly charged you for the gmco, 99.99 wire harness and used a 14.99 wire harness and ran ign to the cig lighter..

as long as you have constant behind the dash then you can run a wire to the fuse box for ignition, just make sure you fuse the wire.

correct, but i would recomend on a 04 cavi to just tap a straight ignition wire, then fuse it under the dash. the cars pcm tests the circuits in the fuse box for resistance and voltage, under the dash (if you have soldering experience) you can splice into either the Brown, or the Orange from the keyswitch, be sure to fuse it and solder it, DO NOT SCOTCH LOCK IT!!! then tape it and your good for ever as long as its done correctly.

good info //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i tested the wires with a dmm. and i get voltage readings, 12.50 from the constant 12v and like 4.20 volts from the switched. the ground wire is what i used to ground the dmm and also check if it was shorted, and its not. so whats the best way to get this working? if i tap into the ignition will it only have power when the ignition is on?

this is bullshit everyone else can get an answer to a problem in like a day.. ive been a week and a half without any music, somebody ****ing help, or else im gonna have to take it in to the ****ing car audio place and get charged a billion ****ing dollars
