I have a 98 Z28. I was going to change the front speakers out and put in components. When I took the stock speaker out it has 4 wires going to it. 2 red and 2 black. And a plug that goes into the red and black wires with a blue, yellow, black and lt green. I need to know if it will matter which i use for input or can I use any of them?

Thanks

You have a separate tweeter and mid in each door powered off the factory amplifier. Monsoon FAQ - LS1TECH

Thanks Trumpet. So do I tie both + & -'s together for the input on the crossover? Or what would b the best why to wire them up? I don't have the stock moonson system. Have a Sony aftermarket.

Are you sure you don't have the amplifier? This would be right next to the spare tire in the back passenger side corner of the trunk. The factory head unit isn't anything special and it's easy to replace it. If you don't have the factory amplifier then you need to wire the crossover directly to the Sony head unit.

If the speakers were working then they did a bypass. That's messed up that the radio harness was cut, though. As for which wires to use at the doors, the best way to find out would be to use a multimeter and check for which wires are connected to the Sony. With the factory speakers out you probably have two wires per door that aren't connected to anything.

I know that's messed up about my harness. I had a nice alpine with satellite radio I was going to put in until I saw that. When the speaker is out I have 4 wires. I will post picture when I get home. My iPhone won't let me did.

Here is the picture of the wires coming out of the door.http://

Guess that is what I'll have to do. Really didn't want to run wire through the door jam but if that's the best thing to do ill do it. Won't be too bad only have to run wires for the mids. Tweeters are going on the A post.

Thanks a lot for your help Trumpet!
