Ok I need some help with this.....

I need 1/0 Guage Wire so I am going with the Lightning Audio 1/0 Guage wire for like 2.99 a foot on thezeb.com. What else do I need for this? I have a capacitor too. How many ring terminals do i need and does it matter if i use the "crimp stlye" terminals?

those imputs are 1/0 guage i am begining to worry about my alternator if the amp will draw 150 amps of current....what exactly is an external fuse?

its the MTX8100D amp and I dont know how many amps the alternator is, its a 2000 chevy tahoe. Do you think its too much power i have a one farad cap? Will the alt last?

If you aren't so worried about looks, etc.. you can use welding wire as power wire (at least, someone here says they use it and it's fine, I have some comming but don't know if it works all that well yet... Should be fine though).. There is a post about cheap power wire out there that has the link.. 73 cents a foot (instead of $3)..

You will need an inline fuse near the battery (and fuse holder obviously).. I have #2 wire comming, I think it's AWG2 (rated at 250 amps at 25 ft) and your amp probably won't take that.. so you would need some way to make that wire smaller (there are gauge adapters out there) before it got in the amp (unless it's set for 0 gauge)..

you will also need a battery terminal connector for the power wire.. and a piece of ground wire for the amp (same size as the feed into the amp)..

hope that helps..

can you tell me if you think that my alternator will be able to handle that kind of power? its a 2000 tahoe....mtx81000D.

My guess would be......most likely not, although you never know for sure until you test it out. I could give you a better answer if you found out how many amps your current alt has

ok i bought a hifonics 4 channel zeus 6400. its rated at 340x2 at 2 ohms or something like that. will that power my subs they RMS at 400, they are the mtx 8000s? That will draw less current right? and it will accept 4 guage wire

That HiFonics should be fine....did you actually order it already? Cuz there are better amps out there......I'd recommend the Cadence Z9000, $270, 400x2 @ 2 ohms and overall a better amplifier than the HiFonics
