Wiring Headunit RCA's - Running extra RCA but leaving unhooked?

If you have so much noise in your vehicle that it creeps into the speaker outs, you have a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Likewise with noise on the RCA cables. Vehicle electrical systems, when functioning properly, do not induce noise on signal wiring.

That said, is it good practice to run line level (RCA) and power cables on opposite sides of the vehicle so that in the event of a ground problem there won't be any noise induced? Possibly. But that noise could also be a good way to find out that you have a problem that needs to be addressed.

In the end, noise in a vehicle is not something that just exists. It is an indication of a problem.

here's what you do. pop the rubber boot off the plug. inspect the plug for the release tabs, there are usually 4 sometimes 2. They will be kinda recessed in but will have a place to insert a pick tool and release it. That gives you access to the plug for drilling and also gives a decent sized hole to fish the wire through to the door boot. Pop you holes and fish the wire through the plug and the boot to the door itself. Put the rubber back onto the plug before reinserting the plug back into its hole.
