wiring harness for 03 chevy

just to make sure i have this right i thought i would post it here first.

sauder (spelling?) the wires from the wiring harness that comes with the h/u to a wiring harness bought from wal-mart such as schoche. plug the schoche wiring harness into the factory harness. is that right.

here's the problem. on the wiring harnesses at walmart, the ones for silverados only goes to '02. is that wiring harness compatible with the factory '03 one or are there differences. anyone with an '03 + silverado that can give me some info.

2003 is different than the 2002 harness. Your going to need a different harness. Metra is a well known and used installer recource for harnesses and install brackets. The part number for the harness you need is GMRC-01. You should be able to get this harness at BestBuy or Circuit City or someplace like that.

thats not tthat facory chime retaining thing is it...if so that is a very expensive harness

i would use butt-connectors instead of soildering the wires

easier and cleaner

Well, not quite sure if it retains the chime, but its listed on Metra's site as the harness to interface an aftermarket deck into your existing wiring... I can check prices really quick hang on........

ooo ouch... thats the one alright. Not sure if anyone makes one that just interfaces the radio and not the chime, I'm sure some one can give you a more direct answer to that question, but yeah that harness is deffinatly 80 bucks.. sorry my bad.

I got an 03 gmc, yea i lost all my chimes, but it doesnt really bother me. But if u need those chimes then u gotta get the expensive harness.

yep yep gmrc-01... it retains factory door chimes and turns the 6v ignition wire into 12v... OR... you could go the cheap route... buy a 70-2003 or 80-2003 wiring harness from best buy or circuit city... and run the accessory wire to the fusebox, or accessory wire in ignition harness... you will lose all parking light and door chimes
