wiring didn't work

I'm trying to get my alpine iva c800 to play video while I drive. I disconnected the parking brake wire and grounded the wire. When I powered the unit up the video didn't come on. Did I dot his right or do I need to do something else? Help please

Sometimes it is not looking for a closed circuit but an open circuit. try taking the wire off of the ground and see if you can get it to work.
