Wiring 2-way/3way Active Setup

I still having difficulty understand how a 2-way/3-way active setup is wired. I used the search button and read through numerous threads. I know how they work and how it's different from passive to active. But my question is how do you wire this up to a HU?

I have two amps one 4ch and the other 2ch. I know that I can use my 4ch for mids and midranges and my 2ch for my tweeters but how would you hook that up to a HU? Wouldn't I need 3 rca's hook up to the HU in order to setup of the correct frequencies for each speakers. And doesn't majority of HU's have 3 preouts 1Front, 1Rear, 1SUB. How would you connect a 2-way active? tweets to front RCA preout on the HU and midbasses to rear preout? And how would a 3-way active system be connected?

I'm thinking of getting a 880PRS or a Alpine IVA-W200 with the H701 processor depending on how I can correctly set this up

the h701 will let you do this a lot better than the 880. You run 3 pairs of rca's from the headunit to the h701 and then 3 pairs off the h701 into your amps. so 6channels essentially. Midbass, Midranger, and tweets. Depending on the power you have available I would give the midbass the most power and the tweeters the least. leaving the mid ranges with somewhere inbetween. On the h701 you can use the 2 front channels and the rear channel as the 3rd front. and it still has sub outputs as well.
