wiring 2 SPL 170s

Two 15" spl 170s (ya old school lol )The spec sheet on soundstreams website says 2/8 ohms they are dvc. Not sure what the 2/8 means and how I should be wiring these on a mono block 1 channel 1 ohm stable amplifier. ? Thanks for any help.

I would think that means that they are dual 4 ohm

That is why they say 2/8 -- each sub can be wired to have a 2 or 8 ohm load

Wiring all coils in parallel on both subs would give you a 1 ohm final load.

The actual sub says 8/2 but I think ur right dual 4ohms.

Can anyone verify that these dvc subs thatare say 8/2 are dual 4 ohms. Im guessing if I wire all positive and all negatives together then to the one channel at thethe amp I will be left with a 1 ohm load at the amp?

That seems very logical. Of course you can buy a 8$ DMM at wal-mart or radio shack and verify. It's worth owning one anyway if you're going to be doing DIY audio.

holland looked like a good deal. i believe he had some memphis 15s also if i remember right. i look as so many audio ads its hard to remember

Ya he had a couple Memphis for sale. They were 10s. You no anyone in our area who builds boxes I wannaget one built for these beasts.

naa i dont. i know extreme car audio rapes ppl over there with custom boxes its so stupid. my local shop doesnt charge that bad of prices 80 90 bucks for a single and 100 125 for doubles but i think 15s would be more since there bigger. i got a custom box when i was picking up some subs from kzoo. charged me 80 for a nice custom built box. i have a little honda so it was worth it. i could ask and see what it would be for them also he can make it with out with out carpet. if i didnt get mine done it would have been 60. let me know if your interested and specs. im pretty sure i can get ahold of them they run a audioshop
