Wireless network issue...HELP

the quality isnt the problem, its that its dropping the signal, which is normally because the router is dropping packets
So how can I fix that? Theres a lot about router configuration that I dont really understand. Ive had routers in the past that would easily go 100ft through multiple walls.

how many connections are being made to your router? if you don't have it password protected your neighbors could be using your internet for free which would bring the quality of the connection down

I have my laptop:wireless

PS3: Wired

360: Wired (not used in months)

Wifes laptop: wireless (but never used)

I check my security log often to make sure my devices are the only one accessing the internet, so hopefully its not that^^.

I just dont get how a mere 10ft or so could cause my Internet to just stop working, while still maintaining a full signal...

try disconnecting either the 360 or the ps3 and see if that helps

It will work for a while while Im in the other room, but inevitably it will just quit. Often just resetting my laptop card will fix it, but it always drops after a while.

try updating the drivers, other than that the only other thing you could do is turn off your router, wait about 1 minute turn it back on and see what happens

if you have one...put a pcmcia wireless card in your laptop and disable the onboard wireless...see if the new card gives the same results...if it does then you need to get a router from these people...best in the businesshttp://www.hawkingtech.com/
best advice yet. most built in wireless cards **** for range, using a pcmcia card or a usb stick should solve the problem

buying a wireless n router/card will also solve your problem, but will cost more money

problem solved, donate that $5 to charity

My laptop has built in wireless N and Im currently connected at 130mbps. About 2 months ago I had to update the driver for the built in card because for some reason it was causing the blue screen of death. After the update everything was fine until now.

In fact, for the first time tonight I lost connectivity sitting with my laptop 10ft from the router with nothing in the way.

The firmware for the router is up-to-date also.

if it isnt your internet connection being flaky and the router is only 10ft away and you are still losing connection then try a different router or move the router someplace else in the house because it is getting interference from something
