I usually have my laptop in the living room and the router sits near the TV about 10 feet away. It always has a great connection and never drops. Then one day I decided to move the computer in the other room which is about 20ft from the router with 1 wall in the way. While in there my connection will drop all the time. Ill still have a full signal, but I will lose internet connectivity (but still have local).

First person to help me in successfully solving this issue will get $5 paypal;) Yes I hate network problems.

Laptop: Vaio FZ190 w/ Intel AGN card

Router: D-Link DGL-4500

The new linksys routers are bunk, the belkin wireless N ones are nice, the one I have can broadcast through 2 block walls 250' away and I can still surf.

look for things that interfere between the router and the laptop, cordless phones, other things that introduce EMI and see if moving them help

Our linksys router is in the basement and i am on the second floor so 2 floors up from the router i still get a great signal from it. Linksys is the only one I go with.
I used to swear by them, but i had 2 blow up of there older models, the netgear is the way to go for wireless N

Try aiming the antennas toward the spot you are trying to sit at. Those do not have the strongest signal but no 20 ft should not be that far the tv could be interfering with the wireless. But you should defiantly try aiming the antennas toward that 20ft spot. Also try resetting the router.
