Ok, I was trying to install my new Infinity Kappa 462.5's today and I had a slight problem. Other then forgetting to get some end connectors, I don't know which wire is positive, and which one is negative. I have a pretty good idea, but I would rather be safe then sorry so from this pic.... Is the (+) Red or Blue?????

I'm pretty sure it is the red, but i don't want to risk messing it up...

Sorry for the crapy pic, and if you can't tell, Red is on the left, Blue on the right...

Please help...

Jon

It is a 91 buick century. Those wires were hooked up to the stock speakers. I just unhooked them and was going to just cut off the addapter at the end, and just hook up the wire to the Kappa's. Am I doing this wrong, I am a noob to the actual install...

hook up a nine volt battery to those leads, if the speaker goes in that means the polarity is reversed, if it goes out you just look at what battery terminals the leads are hooked up to. that will tell you what is + and what is -

um. how about you just use a DMM?

or take a small flashlight bulb and touch the wires to the +\-

i dont believe you can mess up a speaker by hooking the wires out of phase. if its wrong, the speaker will have the opposite movement of the other one. so i dont think it really matters man.

just hook them all up the same and it will be fine. and alot of times the wire itself has writing on it saying what one is + or -... sometimes the stock HU has a wiring diagram and will sho where all the wires go and what they do stuck to the case somewhere...

i would just take a LED\bulb and do a quick test. a DMM works great too.

its not that big of a deal tho guy.

This is the road to figuring out the proper wiring for this vehicle without looking for the info. Once you take the factory speaker out and cut off the factory plug, re attach the plug to the factory speaker. Take a small battery and hook one wire up to each terminal of the battery (only breifly) if it is wired properly then the cone will move outwards. If it is wired out of phase then the speaker will move inwards. In this case reverse the leads and see how the cone will now change direction. Once you see how the speaker works for phase, you can apply this to the other speakers in the vehicle without any need to do further testing.
