Wire gauge inside box

Once I have the box hooked up to the amp, is there a difference between 10-16 gauge wire INSIDE the box from the terminal connector to the speakers? 500wrms. I have 16g laying around and want to just use that so I can finish up instead of going out to buy some 12g.
