anyways don't do an upgrade... make sure you do a full install... also unless your not worried about updates and are ok with priated stuff don't try this with someone elses copy of XP... it makes you activate within a week and you'll be screwed if it's not a legit copy...

also if you don't have at least 512mb ram and a 1.3+ ghrz processor don't even bother...

now the only thing is if you dont have an actual registered copy you wont be able to get all the updates and such.

I haven't done it in a while so I could be mistaken, but I remember upgrading from 98 to xp, and they run on different file formats.

Point of that...be sure to back everything up because doing a proper install will require reformatting your HD.

There are ways to get around all of the windows xp security things and get the updates.

I would personally just recommend getting windows 2000. It's better than windows xp and will run faster on a slower machine.

windows 2k aint compatible with a lot of software.... or at least thats what i have found when i was running it

all you have to do is get a copy of windows, put in a fake cd key from a cd key gen, then when it comes time to activate you go through the steps and call a number. make up some lie about how you have used your key on your own computer to many times and they will give you a code to register it with.

dang man..you need to get into the 21'st century, your computer should pretty much have no less than 256 ram these days, you should have 512 and AT LEAST a 1000mhz processor you can get a computer such as this for like 100 prolly, so just toss that other crap and get a new compy.

And if your not running XP yet...do it now.
