Windows 7 faster than Vista or XP

I'm running windows 7 now (64). It's very stable, very fast. Dual-booted it and I'll keep it on because I know they give discounts to beta testers.

Looks a good deal like vista (I partially think this is what vista was supposed to be, and they just had to get something to market) but I hated vista (not the layout, but the slow down in my hardware).

For a beta, this is amazing.

nah, the laptop was initially on win 95 then upgraded with the 98 addon. after that the laptop just went downhill. at the time the OS they had available was ME. i found it better than a 95-98upgrade.i love my XP right now though. i may build a linux comp pretty soon. just need to find another hard drive.
i have a 250 by WD that ill send you.

IDE though, 40+ship

I'm just fighting having to buy that much in processing power just to run the OS. I don't need quad cores and 8GB of RAM, I just want to run Office, Foobar, uTorrent and a simple browser. Now why do I need 4GB just to do that? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
im doing that, plus streaming x264 content without a hitch on less than 2gb on the paptop

You can download Windows 7 (anyone can) just go to the website. It's been overrun so its down, but if you have an internet download manager it's easy to find the URL you need.

Or just PM and I'll get you the information you need. They are giving out 2.5 million keys.

3.11 was crap, stupid donkey shit it was!

I ran 98se for a good year after XP was released, XP was crap when it came out as well, but they cleaned it up well.

I signed up for beta testing for Windows 7. Got a copy of it 1-2 months ago.

My original feeling about it was it is much faster and more stable than Vista was in its early states. (I also beta tested Vista.)

Also, just downloaded the official public beta release...in the process of setting up drives to dual boot and see if there are any improvements.

Faster than Vista for sure, with the right tweaks, just as fast if not faster than XP.

Expected release date as of last night is between July and September this year.

I think it's a winner. Vista>XP with the exception of efficiency. Vista that runs smoother and faster than XP ftw.

thanks for the offer but i rebuilt the computer with an 80gb HD and gave it to my sister. she doesn't have a comp and moved into a house with the intra nets so i just let her keep it. was an old old old build up anyways.

everything works except punkbuster right now booo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

For those of you running it...are you getting the feeling this is what Vista was supposed to be? GUI is still exactly the same, but the mecahnics have changed and greatly improved.
