Hi, I have a kicker kx2500.1 and was wondering if there was a way I can run it with the factory radio. I want to keep it because its a 6-disc and it has the steering wheel controls and looks nice but I also want to put my subs back in. I don't know if there is any outputs on the back or not. It is an 05 dodge ram 3500 diesel with the infinity stereo. Let me know if I need to describe more, I am quite terrible with this stuff! Thanks alot guys.

Do a search, should be able to find a LOC thats compatable with your stock HU. Right now, I got one with my stock HU with a Orion 4002 running my stocks right now and it works fine.

I wasn't kidding when i said I was bad with stereo.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Where does this LOC go? What is it? Where do I get one? I tried to read on them a little, do I just run wires from my speakers into that and that will turn it into RCAs and then run those to the amp? I see the high level thing on the amp, what can I do with that? Thanks alot!

Its cool. A LOC is a Line Out Converter. It takes the High level signal (speaker wires from your stock HU) and convert it into a Low Level signal (RCA) that your amps can use. Most LOCs just have a set of + and - for the Left and Right speakers, to turn that into a RCA output for your HU.

Your 2500 has a set of High Level Inputs built into it like a lot of amps, so you wont need a LOC. But, I used the High Level input on my MTX 342 and stock HU and got a ton of noise. I bought a LOC from Walmart that had four inputs (4 + and 4 -) and a seperate ground, and it worked fine. Try it with the Kicker first, then see if you need to buy a LOC.

Okay so on the amp it seems like there is a plug i need that goes into the high level input slot. Do I just splice into the speakerwires out of a back door then? Thanks i'm gettin somewhere now.

If you dont have the plug for it, you going to have to get one from Kicker or online somewhere. You will prob come out cheaper with something like this,

http://walmart.scosche-cars.com/products2/?sfID1=50&productID=1350&walmartProductID=1863065

This is the one I use, and its cheap, but works really well. Ive had no noise issue with it and sends out a pretty clean signal. Its got 4 + and 4 - but thats because it provides (2) sets of RCA outputs instead of one.

Im assuming your rear speakers are in your door, yes you will have to run speaker wire from them to the LOC. Just make sure you know what is positive and what is negative. If your going to do all that, why not get the LOC I linked up there and hook it up behind your stock HU? That way, all you got to do is run a RCA to your amp in the rear.

That will tell you what wire is what in your car, hope that helps!

put the LOC as close to the factory radio as possible, you want to convert high level audio to low level audio as quickly as possible, the further away from the source you are, the more risk of noise there will be, I would put it away from the heater controls but close to the radio, then run your RCA's back as normal, this way if you ever do decide down the road that you want to buy an aftermarket HU (cause 80% of people that do this do decide)(and it does make a world of difference with a better source unit), your RCA's are right there.

Okay I got the LOC and tried hooking it up. I tried tapping into right behind the HU and could only get it to produce a fixed volume of bass(Dark green/blue, Darkgreen/orange). The subs would not get louder or quieter with the volume change at the HU. Do I have to pick up the wire after the factory amp because I also tried that(darkgreen/gray, darkgreen/lime and could get nothing. I am only trying to tap into one speaker, does it need to use 2? THanks Now I'm really confused! HELP

Looks like you need to tap in after the factory amp. You said you tried that already, and got no output. Are you sure you tapped into the right wires? Sorry, I don't know what color wires you should be looking for. Try tapping in at the rear speakers, instead of at the amp, so you know you're tapping into the right wires.
