Will Polyfill keep body panels from resonating?

One of my freinds is telling me that if i stuff my rear hatch with polyfill it wont resonate. Is there any truth to this? Can i stuff all my body panels to keep them from resonating? I figure since im using 70sq ft. of dynamat xtreme and a gallon of spray on stuff i might as well go all out. Thanks!

Yeah thats what i thought. Is there anything i can stuff in my pannels to make it more solid? I know like expandable foam but thats just such a mess...

I'm in the process of putting 200+ sq feet of sound deadener into my car. I put it on anything and everything that may, or may not resonate. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Yeah my problem is just in my hatch...i need to spray or stuff something in there cause it rattles bad. Only thing is i dont want the locking wires and opening mechanisms to bind up.. any ideas?

A carpenters spay on expanding foam will do the trick. Be careful, this shit's messy. It works great though. Don't ever, ever wreck your car if you use this stuff, the body shop will kill you.

Yes sir the expanding foam works. But man what a mess. When you use it be sure to tape off anything you don't want it stuck too. I learned this the hard way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

oh yeah and wear rubber gloves so not to get that crap on your hands and have them turn a yellowish green for the next 10 days no matter how often you wash your hands. oh and nothing get's that crap off either trust me like ramos i learned the hard way.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The sell different kinds. Some that doesn't expand at all and also minimal expansion.

One other suggestion, if your just trying to fill open spaces regular old fiberglass insulation works wonders. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Now some fiberglass insulation sounds harmless enough!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif haha im down with stuffing that in my panels...i just didnt wanna be spraying goo all over my car! Does insulation do an ok job? Any kind work?

I put a layer or two of the deadening material on the sheet metal itself. Then fill in the empty spaces behind the plastic trim panels with regular old houshold insulation. Works like a charm. The sound deadener kills the panel resonations and the insulation kills road noise. If you have plastic panels buzzing I would suggest weather stripping foam like they sell at wally world or lowes. Put it on the back of the plastic panels where they contact the metal. And your buzzing panels will no longer buzz. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I used that egg carton shaped foam (ya know, like the stuff for camping mattresses). Wal-Mart for about $7-$9 for one. Stick it the panel with 3M contact spray ( anything other than 3M is $h!T). Or you can stuff the foam in the panels.

Either way, it works for me.
