Check the manufacturers literature for the current rating of your amplifier. If this is hard to find, look at the ratings of the fuse(s) of that amp. If it is less that 50 amps, you will be fine...just keep the car running while your bumping. Over 50 amps...up to about 100 or so, you could probably use a little help, especially if this is in a little rice-burner, but it isn't necessary unless you run around at night with the lights on all the time, with the A/C or heater running on high as well as bumping as much as possible. Your alternator can only put out so much...and your car will need to share the current that is available. If you have an alternator that puts out 85 amps...and you have an amp that can draw 100 amps(this is peak by the way...not RMS) then you can see where you would have a problem.
