Will I need to upgrade to big 3?

I have a stock 02' Chevy Trailblazer. Plan on running an Audiopipe 18001d (1800 rms@1ohm) with a pair of 12" Alpine Type R. Also looking at an Audiopipe 30002 (160x2@4ohm, 320x2@2ohm, 640x1@4ohm) to run front and back door speakers. I planned on picking up an extra battery, probably a blue top but would splurge for a yellowtop if necesary.

whether you have a huge or small system or even no system, it is a good idea to do the big 3. it helped my car so much even without a system installed.

x2 Its always good to do the big three, so yes. and regardless yes you'd be smart to do it for your app.

Thanks for the replies, I'll definitely have to upgrade. One more thing... I don't want to make another topic about it... Will the blue top be sufficient? Or is there any other batteries anyone would like to reccomend for this setup?

Blue Top is marine. It's not advisable for vehicles. Optima Red Top is the standard starting battery for most vehicles. Yellow Tops are deep cycle. Optima batteries don't like to sit for extended periods of time (like several days) while connected to the car. If you drive it every day, a Red Top can give you long life (like my 7 yr old with 12.8V float).

My next battery will be a Die Hard Platinum Group 34. A 4 yr free replacement and even longer pro-rated warranty combined with it actually being an Odyssey 1500dt makes it a good choise. Avoid the Odyssey Group 34/78 as the side posts are known for failure.

Powermaster, Kinetik, etc. also make great batteries.

You should always have a volt meter installed in your dash, so you can monitor your system voltage. If you can't maintain >13.5VDC with your system on, car on, accessories on, it's time to think about turning it down while idling or getting a H.O. alt.

Twista I already have the Type R's. I'm getting the amps today and the rest at a later date that is hopefully soon.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out the Kinetics or might just get a red top.
