will home depot cut my wood to dimension?

okay so if i have them cut it, will it be so far off it will ruin board placement and tuning?

if you like caulking, this should be a fun project. I'd just go to sears and get a $150 table saw or ask a neighbor that has one to do the cuts.

like i said i have all the equipment. i can do it myself. but if HD can/will mess up i know i will since ive never done it.

with a good belt sander you should be able to even out any rough edges....

i've never had HD cut correctly. I think the rollers that the wood coasts across when its cut are not level because one end of the wood is usually like 1/4" to 1/2" off. What im going to start doing is have them cut the wood to within 2" and then I'll take my saw and get precise. Only reason I need them to do it is b/c I have a car and cant fit a 4x8 sheet on the roof //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Have you tried strapping it to the roof and going 88mph yet?

yea if your doing a ported box for sure dont have them do it a square sealed box wouldnt be so bad. maybe have them do cuts so you can transport the wood then do the rest yourself. only downside is that you may have to buy little extra due to not being able to utilize the would like you can as a whole sheet.

you know what happens at 88 mph...... POOF! time travel.... doing this would just be careless... plus we know how flux capacitors are very unreliable...

How hard is it to cut a straight line?????? If you are not comfortable ......

1. Draw a line across the panel, that you want to cut. remember.....do you want to ..A. leave the line on the Box panel.....B. leave the line on the scarp wood....C. make the line go away?

Make your decision.

Next get a circular saw,or hand saw....does it have a good sharp blade? PUT ON SAFETY GLASSES!!! FIRST!!!!!.

Plug in saw. pull the trigger and look at the edge of the blade is it warped? or straight? you will see the line stay thin if the blade is straight!!!

Next get a straight board or a piece of metal that is at least 3/4 inch thick. This will be your guide. UNPLUG SAW NOW!!! Measure from blade to the edge of the foot of the saw. This will tell you how far apart to set your board from the line. Measure on both ends of the board from the line. Clamp your straight board or piece of steel or whatever to your panel. Put the saw against your backrestboard...the blade should be to the outside of your line. If not reset your backrest board. Get it where your blade is beside the line.

Make sure there is nothing under the line where your blade is going to travel.

Make sure the heaviest part of the board is supported and the lighter part will drop away.

Make sure there is someone with you who might catch the part that will drop away or steady it as you cut, so it will not pinch the blade....or they can drive you to the hospital if something goes wrong!!! No I am not kidding about this part if you are inexperieced.

Make sure your saw cord has no bare wires showing!!! If it does wrap them in electrical tape,,,UNPLUG SAW first before you touch them. Plug the saw into a ground fault receptacle only or that recepatacle is on a ground fault breaker.

RULE 1: Don't kill yourself!!!

Rule 2: Dont kill your friend!!!

Rule3: Don't cut anything off....except the board.

Rule 4: If it looks wrong it probably is, so doublecheck.

USE good equipment,

Now go have fun.

A good person there will tell you there's a +/- 1/4" difference in every piece that they may cut. Only one time that I've gotten wood cut at HD or lowes were all the cuts the right size. They are all usually a little off. But my car's too small to take a sheet so I have to bare with it.
