Will 4 gauge work?

I have a single run of 4 gauge and big 3 in 4 gauge and a redtop up front and kinetik hc600 in the back. I have a hifonics brutus 1600 on the way now I am planning on going to get another 4 gauge kit to connect battery to amp. Will 4 gauge be fine. I know 0 is better but will 4 gauge be fine for the wattage im running. Thanks

yes 4g would be ok, but i can tell u through experiance bigger wire is always better. i gained .9 decibels going from 4g knu to 1/0 stinger wire earlier this year and all i had was a hifonics 1200

.9 dB from 4 AWG to 0 AWG? That's a little 'over-estimated' don't you think? I could understand a visable gain from multiple runs as opposed to one for a current hungry amp but that much of a gain on only 1kW?

oh i thought it was 1600w. but i like to run more wire than needed cuz it keeps the voltage up. more voltage=more power. well, efficiency isn't played into that either.
1200W / 13.8V * 1.2 (~80% efficient) = 104.35A

But how often will he have it at FULL draw?

And I only usually have it at full tilt for no more than a minute at a time. Just ridin through some parking lots in town for a few seconds lol

well, hardly never. that's why I said it would work, but bigger wire is generally better. it also depends on what brand wire he has. if he is using cheap shit the rating on it might be more like 100a. i've seen a lot of crappy 4 awg wire that looks more like 6 gauge.
