will 2ga wire fit in fuse holders meant for 4ga?

im running 4ga currently with an bx1500d and a 4-ch speaker amp. id like to know if its a worth a while upgrade to go 2ga? ever since i upgraded from the bx1000d, i now get massive dimming (probably because this amp is 120A and the bx1000d was only 60A). id like to know if upgrading to 2ga will help reduce dim problems? and will my 4ga fuse holder/distro be able to accept 2ga wire?

have you done the "BIG 3" yet? if not that will help also if that doesn't do it try a new altinator. but 2 gauge wouldn't hurt but i would get the correct fuse holder if u are going to use 2 ga

i DOUBT there would be a noticable improvement, but like jal said, it couldn't hurt. The stock ground upgrade may help as well.

as far as fitting it in the fuse holder - you can just trim the excess diameter off the 2 ga w/o any measurable effect, but you can get a 1/0 ANL fuse holder and fuse for less than $15.

no, upgrading that wire won't help fix your problem. You are apparently drawing plenty of current through the 4ga already! Do what was previously posted...the Big3 elctrical upgrade.

Check back in after that.

You can also find charts that have gauge to amp to length on them.

my electrical upgrades are:

-4ga big-3

-additional grounding points with 4ga

-suns hyper voltage system

im thinking about investing into a yellow top for 150 at autozone with 2-yr replacement warranty

I have seen it and it is a bit disturbing.
hehe i can just picture that

oh there it is! good bye thumbs

You ever tried cutting it ? We used a large pair of bolt cutters. And still had to fight it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Never had to cut it, but I have heard of people using a sharp cold chisel and a sledge to do the deed. Biggest I've personally worked with is 0 and I have a small (really small actually) pair of bolt cutters that do an OK job. I did use a hammer, chisel and vise to crimp connectors on it.

parts express has cutters for stranded wire up to 4/0 for $12. I bought 'em to cut all my 1/0 stuff. It slices through like butter. Jigsaw's with metal cutting blades make a nice cut as well, just a little more dangerous with the moving parts near fingers.
