wifes car wants to stall and backfires

hey guys my wifes car just started to dip real low in rpms doesnt stall but sounds like it wants to and when she gives it gas it backfires, she can't tell me if it comming from the front of the car or the rear just looking for some ideas to look at when I get home.

the plugs were changed less than 10,000 miles ago

the air filter has been replaced, the car is a 2000 honda civic lx with about 55,000 miles on it, i am not sure what maintenance was preformed by the previous owner.

2k civic should throw codes before doing anything you described. I would wager that the check engine light is on and you should get the codes read.

on a 2k, if it was a fuel issue, I would point the finger at the filter before regulator.

there are no recalls on that vehicle which will help

just got off the phone with her no check engine light is on, we also just replaced the front 02 sensor about 1500-2k miles ago

nah were actuall taking all of the dls stuff out, to make room for the baby on the way.

How long has it been doing this? Could have just got a bad tank of fuel. Water in gas makes a car do exactly what yours is doing.

Its a fuel problem, injectors are clogged, something like that. In all honesty i would drain your gas totally, put a gallon of premium in it and a nice amount of injector cleaner and run it down to almost nothing, problem should be solved

premium will make no difference. SEAFOAM however will do it well

it's not recommended that u run SEAFOAM unless ur going to change ur 02 sensor after u run SF, which u have done already. Start off ez, check the plugs, and make sure all the wires are connected and no bare wire showing. Then move on.
