Wierd Problem with RCA

Right now my amp is not putting out any signal. I dont have a mulitmeter right now becuase my freind has it but I do have a test light. When I touch the remote and the power terminals the light tunrns on in the tester so I know there gettin power. but the power on indicator light on the side of the amp only turns when the RCA cables are in?? I had the car complety off and the light was still on, but when I unplug the RCA's it turns off. The only thing I can thing of it that the RCA and power cables are crossed, but there not I doubled checked. WTF IS GOING ON I HAVE NO BASS!! Would a low voltage cuase the amp not to power up, cuase I have a problem with the fuse holder up front, its a little melted and dosent hold the fuse very well, **** I wish I had my multimeter

Sounds like you have a poor ground connection. The power light comes on when you plug in the RCAs because the amp is grounding through the RCA cable shields.

thanks KaeZoo Ill try to clean and tighten the ground when I get back from school, but I think its the ground is ok I still think its the fuse holder so Im gunna pick up a new one also. Ill keep you posted

Ok Im stumped on this one. Cleaned, tightened, and even changed the location of the ground. And got a new fust holder. Same thing... I got my multimeter and each one of the remote, power, and speaker terminals all say 13.5 volts. THere is still that wierd problem the amp will only turn on when the RCA cables are plugged in??WTF

Just opened the amp and there are no visible burn marks on the board...

have you tried disconnecting the speakers?

THe amp is on my front speakers. Thank god I figured out the problems. Yes there where two at the same time. First off the ground was horrible(all covered in paint) fixed that and the amp would turn off with the RCA's plugged in, but still no sound. HMMM..Went to the front and heard a very very faint music coming. Chekced the fade on the HU and it was all the way to the back, turned it to the front and the music started blasting. Im an IDIOT!
