Hi

I was working on my beater system install this weekend (See sig). Working with a friend, we stripped my car down and put everything in its place and it all worked fine.

Excellent

But then, I got called away and my friend was alone in putting everything. And when I came back, it didn't work. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Not just that, the cigarette lighter and dash clock of the car didn't work.

I pulled the deck out and there were all sorts of mistakes. The remote wire (You know, the amp turn-on wire) was connected to the +12v ignition wire instead of the power antenna wire (Red wires instead of blue) and the fuse was removed from the back of the deck.

Alright, well that ***** but it was simple enough to fix. I put them back together, stuck the fuse in.

I put those back together and it still didn't work. I checked the car's fuses and the fuse for the radio/cigarette lighter was blown. I replaced that and the cigarette lighter now worked but the radio and dash clock still didn't //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

So...any ideas? I've checked the wires a dozen times and *every* fuse...Do you guys think any permanent damage has been done?

Oh...he didn't undo any of the stock wiring...and it confuses me that it worked before and now doesn't work with all the wires back together.

Did you try to put the stock deck back in? I would try that and see if it works, if not, you blew somethin up. Maybe your friend knows what happened? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No...unfortunately can't for a few months because it's back home and I'm at school //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yeah, I might try that...

Alternatively, I was thinking of getting a $5 Jensen deck from Walmart and seeing if that works...and then either returning it...or plugging it into a wall socket //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

That's a budget buster //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Heh heh...yeah, it's just really frustrating though...it's like I've checked all the wires like 10 times and it still doesn't work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I just wonder if there could be something else that I'm doing wrong besides the wiring...

Alright, bought an Xtreme Sound deck from Walmart and it didn't work...so looks like it's my car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Any ideas on where to start?

many cars have second fuse boxes in teh engine bay...

first thing to do would be to check with a volt meter whether or not you are seeing any power coming down the wires from teh factory harness...

Excellent...there was a fuse blown in the fuse box under the hood...I replaced it and the deck worked //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
But now, my front speakers don't work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

So I guess there's lots more checking for me to do
